Jonker Street, Melaka / January 7th 2012

Bits and pieces of Jonker Street from our last roadtrip. Ended up being nothing more than a pure binge+makan trip, but even after all my drives there, I have yet to try the infamous chicken rice balls.
Soon, insyaAllah.
Old Market, Siem Reap / January 13th 2012

I didn’t really know what to expect from Cambodia when we decided to buy our flight tickets to Siem Reap two weeks ago. I was a little surprised to find it almost similar to the rural parts of Malaysia.
Some of the people there can even speak Malay, and if you wander into the villages, you can actually see a lot of similarity in the houses there.
Siem Reap, Cambodia / January 14th 2012

Traveled 14kms via Quad Bikes from the Old Market into several villages in Siem Reap (which, I also found out that day literally translates to “Siamese Defeated”), where we also managed to catch one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen, parked by a paddy field in the middle of nowhere. Going through the dusty villages, I managed to get a glimpse of the simple way Cambodian families lived their life, and was lucky enough to get smiles from every child that we passed by.
That day I learnt that there really isn’t any reason for me not to be happy, when these kids can keep on smiling, even when they have nothing.
